For Information

Diabetes and its related conditions are one of the biggest health challenges in our society. It is estimated that about 115 million Americans, or one-third of the population, has diabetes or prediabetes—many without knowing it. The number of people with diabetes is expected to grow, especially with increased rates of obesity across the country. People with diabetes are at higher risk of serious health complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, amputation and blindness.

Lourdes is focused on the prevention and treatment of diabetes. Nationally recognized for quality care, Lourdes’ healthcare professionals work to combat the effects of diabetes. Lourdes has formed a multidisciplinary, system-wide diabetes council to organize care for this condition and to coordinate resources and providers around this need.

Lourdes approaches this public health issue with the all the energy and dedication that a health system can focus on a problem as prevalent and current as this. With its expansive accomplishments and repute in both cardiovascular services and in community medical care, Lourdes works everyday on the very front lines of combatting the effects of diabetes-related conditions.

Against this epidemic, Lourdes applies the largest system of cardiac services in South Jersey, as well as an active Diabetes Education Program and a host of other respected primary and specialty services. In addition, its endocrinologists provide comprehensive clinical services for both this field and other conditions related to the hormonal system.
