Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing
Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing has been preparing students to enter the nursing profession since 1961. Established in 1960 by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany New York and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey, Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing serves as the only source of Catholic nursing education in Southern New Jersey.
Lourdes Nurse Anesthesia Program
Founded in 1978, the Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center Nurse Anesthesia Program is one of the few hospital-based courses of its kind. It is affiliated with Drexel University.
During the 27-month program, each student, who is already a registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of critical care experience, must complete a minimum of 600 cases and 2000 clock hours. They must also complete intense course work in physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, physics, and principles of anesthesia practice. Upon completion, the student earns an MSN with a specialty in nurse anesthesia and is eligible to sit for the national certification exam.

Career Ladder
The Career Ladder is designed to encourage and assist nurses to further their professional development and to reward them for their commitment to professional growth and excellent patient care. It is also our belief that the achievements afforded through the Career Ladder instill a sense of pride and achieve in the work that nurses perform. The implementation and maintenance of this program also enhances the Lourdes Health System’s ability to recruit and retain professional nurses who, in turn, contribute to the achievement of quality patient outcomes.
