Delivery and Recovery

When your big day arrives, Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County focuses on helping your delivery go as smoothly and as comfortably as possible. The Maternity Unit has a separate entrance for your privacy. Our birthing rooms feature special beds that allow you to control your position during labor for maximum comfort. An anesthesiologist is available 24-hours a day and the Unit has two complete surgical delivery rooms to handle any emergency. Both during and after delivery, our dedicated and experienced maternity nurses offer support and encouragement to you and your family.

We ensure continuity of care with our specially trained Mother-Baby Nurses—the same nurse takes care of you and your infant. The Mother-Baby model, which is a standard model of care nationally and internationally, provides bonding opportunities for you, your baby and your family. This combined mother and infant care encourages the mother to keep the infant in her room around the clock; however, your baby may be returned to the nursery at any time if you need rest.

Security

For your peace of mind, entry to the Maternity Unit is monitored by cameras and controlled by our staff. Mothers and babies receive identically numbered bracelets that are matched before the baby is handed to anyone.

Family Visiting Policies

Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County has liberal visiting policies for grandparents and support persons. Your other children are welcome to meet their newest brother or sister during sibling visiting hours.
